Questions

What counts as a span?

Every traced LLM call, tool invocation, HTTP request, or DB query your SDK captures counts as one span. A single agent turn is usually 3–10 spans depending on how many tools it calls.

Are the SDKs actually free?

Yes. The Python, TypeScript, Go, and Java SDKs are open-source under Apache-2.0 on every plan, including Free. You’re only billed for what you export to the hosted platform.

What happens if I go over the Free plan’s limit?

We’ll email you before you hit 10,000 spans for the cycle. Nothing breaks automatically — there’s no card on file and no surprise charge.

Why isn’t evaluation included in Free?

Tracing tells you what happened; evaluation tells you if it was any good. The judge-model calls behind evaluation cost us real inference, so that’s where the free tier draws the line.

Can I switch plans or cancel?

Anytime — email founder@syntropylabs.ai and we’ll make the change. No long-term contract.
